| The entrance hall shows to the left the wardrobe, next to the entrance door. To the right we see the niche with wash basin and toilet door. On either side to the wash basin are mirrors, which give the impression of the niche to extend beyond the wall. We can look however through the window in front of the basin into the carport and beyond into the street. What adds to the illusion of depth is the doorframe of the living room connecting the hall with side windows the width of the mirrors. This creates an ambiguous sense of space experience. | ![]() |

| Looking up from the entrance door one looks into the nook of the house. The walls reaching for the nook separate the 2 sides of the house only connected with a bridge. A stairway leads up to the bridge. | ||

The Structural Language of the House |
||
We have shown on this pages two main sight lines both viewing East through openings or doors (, that may interrupt the view and only allow it when open) and end with the walls of the West elevation. These lines thread the spaces along it like a sentence connects words, or letters making words. The South line divides the side spaces of the house (2.60 m wide). This axis runs through its center and follows a modular line going East-West. The axis through the washbasin is located between the main modular lines that are 1.30 m apart. In the East elevation this corresponds with the opening between the columns set on the modular lines 1.30 cm from axis to axis. In-between the columns are 86 cm, the columns being half, 43 cm wide. This sets the rhythm of the patterns around the house. |

Upstairs |

| The door of the up-stairs toilet has a window with milk white glass and is repeated in the niche with the doors going into the bedrooms. | Niche with doors going into toilet (left), bathroom (back, open) and master-bedroom (right, door open). Far right we see the stair come up. | This niche shows the doors into the bedrooms open (!). The bridge comes out from the wall that reaches into the nook of the house. |
| The bridge in the hall connects the two bedroom sections of the top-floor. The niches as extensions of the bridge are a structural repeat of the downstairs openings. The openings are cut out into the structural walls on both sides of the hall that reach into the nook of the house from the ground floor. The stairs are made of 2 halves with a platform in-between. The bathroom has a door into the hall and into the master-bedroom. Above the bathroom and niches are attic/storage spaces, which creates low ceilings in the niches and entrances spaces of the 3 bedrooms. The ceiling of the master-bedroom reaches towards the nook. | ||

The sides of the bedroom with the sloping floors are functionally used for cupboard and wardrobe spaces. At one point in the section of the master-bedroom with a low ceiling a roof-light comes down towards the sides with the sloping floor. At this point with this spacious effect a desk with drawers is build for ironing or writing etc. |
